Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Baker to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our bakery team, you will be responsible for leading the production of high-quality baked goods, ensuring consistency and quality standards are met, and providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Leadership: Lead the production team in the preparation and baking of high-quality goods, ensuring consistency and quality standards are met.
  • Quality Control: Routinely assess production outcomes to ensure Enterprise scratch bread program quality is maintained.
  • Team Management: Mentor, coach, and train junior team members on proper execution of relevant bread and bakery programs to maintain consistency and quality standards.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, address customer needs in a timely and effective manner, and model suggestive selling techniques.
  • Inventory Management: Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, and ensure compliance with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Adaptability: Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, and be flexible with scheduling to meet business needs.
Requirements
  • Experience: 14+ months retail experience.
  • Skills: Thorough product, production, and equipment knowledge for all bakery production items, especially scratch bread; high energy, enthusiastic, and displays an affinity for WFM products, core values, and company philosophy.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day, and work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to: FDA approved cleaning chemicals, temperatures 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Equipment: Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
