Accessibility Compliance Officer

The Accessibility Compliance Officer will play a critical role in ensuring that Stony Brook Medicine's digital presence meets the highest standards of accessibility. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of accessibility standards and guidelines, as well as experience working with digital technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular accessibility audits and assessments of digital materials and technologies.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve digital accessibility throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address accessibility barriers.
- Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) or Associate's degree and two years of experience in Digital/IT operations or related professional area(s).
- Two years of full-time experience in Digital or IT Operations.
- Experience with accessibility standards and guidelines.
- Experience using accessibility tools, such as WAVE, Axe, JAWS, NVDA, device-integrated screen readers, ZoomText, or similar tools.
- Experience with programming software, such as HTML, JAVA, Web Content Management Systems, or other software.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite.
- Experience with WCAG 2.0 AA & WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility.
- Experience with HECVAT or VPAT forms.
- Experience with the Americans with Disabilities Act and/or Section 508.
- Experience performing accessibility assessments, audits, compliance monitoring, & implementation of WCAG standards.
- Experience performing training and/or hands-on workshops.
- Experience working with e-procurement software, such as Jaggaer.
Stony Brook Medicine is committed to excellence in diversity and the creation of an inclusive learning and working environment. The estimated salary for this position is $65,000-$85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time appointment, FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for overtime provisions of the FLSA. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
