Job Summary:

Pediatric Specialty Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Care Specialist to join our team. As a Pediatric Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our pediatric individuals by providing direct nursing and personal care support.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) care and services, including keeping individuals dry, assisting with bowel and bladder functions, and assisting with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting individuals.
  • Document all provided services in the individual's medical record.
  • Check each individual routinely to ensure that their personal care needs are met.
  • Prepare individuals for meals and assist with the serving and feeding of meals as indicated in the individual's care plan.
  • Complete clinical duties, including performing range of motion, emptying ostomy bags, and obtaining vital signs.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties, including cleaning equipment, toys, and spills.
  • Report all changes in the individual's condition to the supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Responsible for performing all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures under the direction of a supervisor.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner to meet current needs.
  • Show respect for personal possessions of individuals and help maintain an orderly and pleasant environment on the nursing unit.
  • Observe and practice confidentiality of individuals' information and privacy when performing job duties.
  • Based on each individual's ability, provide activities that enhance self-esteem, maintain, or improve physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Assist with loading/unloading individuals from vehicles as necessary.
  • May be responsible for the safe transport of children to appointments in a PSC-owned vehicle.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental staff within the center to assure that services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the individuals.
  • Act as a positive representative of PSC by interacting with individuals, staff, and visitors in a courteous manner.
  • Attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep staff abreast of changes in the profession.
  • Utilize electronic timekeeping systems as directed.
  • Arrive to work on time, regularly, and work as scheduled.
  • Recognize and follow the dress code of the facility, including wearing a name tag at all times.
  • Follow policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.
  • Support and abide by Pediatric Specialty Care's Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Abide by Pediatric Specialty Care's business code of conduct, compliance, and HIPAA policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff, or Administrator.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possesses and maintains current, valid CPR/First Aid certification
  • Current, valid driver's license
  • Proficiency with computer programs and applications preferred
  • Nursing Assistant/Medical Assistant Certification preferred

Working Conditions:

This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
