We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Scrub Technologist to join our team at United Surgical Partners International Inc (USPI). As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures and providing exceptional support to our surgeons and nurses.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and Maintain Sterile Field: Ensure the sterility of all supplies and instruments during setup of surgical procedures.
- Assist Surgical Team: Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment and gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment.
- Count and Verify Supplies: Conduct sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse.
- Support Surgeons and Assistants: Gown and glove surgeons and assistants as needed.
- Update Physician Preference Cards: Assist in keeping physician preference cards accurate and up-to-date.
- Transport and Clean Equipment: Transport all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas and assist in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets.
- Interact with Patients and Staff: Interact appropriately and effectively with all patients and staff members, regardless of age or ethnic background.
- Follow Safety Protocols: Use Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
- Participate in Infection Control and Emergency Preparedness: Assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participate in emergency preparedness drills.
- Stay Current with Training and Certifications: Attend in-services, conferences, and meetings as required and maintain designated certifications such as CPR.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees.
- Education: High School Diploma / GED;
- Experience: 2-5 years experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties (Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Gynecology, General, ENT, Podiatry)
- Certification: Completion of a scrub technician program. Certification highly preferred.
