Job Summary:

As a Patient Registration Specialist at McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center, you will work under the supervision of the Lead patient Access Clerk to perform a variety of registration, admission, and public relations functions.

You will be responsible for interviewing patients to initiate accounts, evaluating information to determine the appropriate flow of patient type, hospital service code, diagnosis, tests, and procedures needed, medical necessity, and priority.

You will also determine the appropriate documentation and form requirements based on medical and financial indicators, secure information to ensure rapid reimbursement, and initiate collection activity by requesting co-payments, deposits, and anticipated balance due.

Additionally, you will provide education to patients related to medical necessity requirements, receive and document acceptance of cash, checks, credit card payments, and patient valuables, and act as a liaison between the patient, visitors, and others and of treatment authorization.

You will maintain required documentation, including patient medical records, logs, and schedules, written and electronic, and identify, respond, and announce all code phone and wall alarm activation.

Educational/Licensure:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications:
Typing 40+ wpm and proficient computer skills are essential. Medical terminology is strongly preferred, and experience in a medical setting is also preferred.
