OVERVIEW
The Inclusive Education Specialist is dedicated to fostering the intellectual, social, and emotional growth of students with diverse learning needs. This role emphasizes the importance of creating an equitable learning environment that adheres to all relevant educational policies and practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate in the creation and execution of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique requirements.
- Employ assessment tools to evaluate student progress and adapt instructional strategies accordingly.
- Utilize a comprehensive data management system to monitor advancements towards IEP objectives.
- Administer specialized assessments and analyze results to inform instructional decisions.
- Deliver instruction using specialized materials designed to meet diverse learning needs.
- Exhibit proficiency in differentiating instruction and applying accommodations to support individual student success.
- Conduct observations to gather diagnostic information that informs teaching practices.
- Engage in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings to develop well-structured IEPs that align with students' learning goals.
- Maintain regular communication with classroom educators and support staff regarding student development and educational programs.
- Foster ongoing communication with administration, colleagues, and families to support student learning.
- Design and implement individualized, classroom, or school-wide behavioral strategies for students requiring additional support.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by school leadership.
- Possession or eligibility for Connecticut Special Education certification (065, 165).
- Evidence of compliance with No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements, as applicable.
- Proven expertise in delivering educational content effectively.
- Ability to build positive relationships with staff, families, and students from varied backgrounds and experiences.
- Demonstrated capability to implement differentiated instruction that leverages the strengths and addresses the challenges of a diverse classroom environment.
