Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Laboratory Specialist to join our team at KTA-Tator, Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical technology and analytical methods.

About Us: KTA-Tator, Inc. is a leading materials engineering firm with over 60 years of experience in corrosion protection and asset integrity. Our team of experts provides coatings failure analysis, forensic laboratory investigations, and independent laboratory testing of coatings performance.

Responsibilities: As a Materials Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing standard test methods, conducting analytical methods to support forensic investigations, and preparing data for technical reports. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Preparing samples for testing
  • Conducting wet chemistry tests to characterize paint composition and physical properties
  • Performing infrared spectroscopic analysis


Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need an Associates Degree in Chemical Technology or related field and relevant experience. You should also be proficient in writing, communication, and organizational skills, as well as Windows applications experience, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel. Additionally, you must be able to stand for long periods of time, feel textures, type, speak, hear, lift up to 40 or more pounds safely, and wear a respirator; close, color, depth, distance, and peripheral vision with the ability to adjust focus; and manual dexterity to manipulate small objects and instruments.

Salary and Benefits: The estimated salary for this position is $55,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
