Transportation Operations Manager

As a Transportation Manager at Golden State Foods, you will be responsible for overseeing all transportation-related activities at our facility, ensuring that our division and company objectives for efficiency, economy, quality, and productivity are met or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and direct the day-to-day transportation functions, including the work assignments of facility transportation supervisors and clerical staff, to ensure that department standards for efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness are met or exceeded.
- Establish and communicate department goals, monitoring employee performance to ensure they are met or exceeded.
- Provide training, development, and performance evaluations of department staff; work with Human Resources to ensure the selection of qualified employees.
- Direct the completion of routing, manpower, and equipment schedules to ensure that organizational KPIs are met.
- Coordinate daily and monthly repairs and preventative maintenance for all tractors and trailers with Penske for safety, to minimize downtime, and to comply with DOT and other Federal and State transportation and safety regulations for all GSF distribution centers.
- Develop, audit, and manage the budget and operations costs to ensure efficient operations.
- Obtain, analyze, and recommend equipment specifications, quotes, and procurement for essential department equipment to ensure effective use of operating funds.
You will supervise, through subordinate management, 100 or more employees, including hourly staff. You will manage projects with significant financial and customer-service impact.

You must have a Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited college or university. You should have 3 to 6 years of work experience in transportation or fleet management, including supervisory responsibilities.
You should have knowledge of DOT regulations, policies, and procedures, project management concepts and techniques, relevant safety policies, practices, and procedures, management/supervisory concepts and techniques, labor contracts and labor union environment, computer-based routing systems, on-board computer systems, equipment specifications, storage and shipment of food or allied products, budgetary concepts and procedures, and PC word-processing/spreadsheet software applications.
You should be able to serve as a team member, facilitator, and/or leader as the team role warrants, lead a diverse workforce of approximately 100 or more employees in a 24 hour/7 day per week operation, resolve delivery issues between drivers and customers, manage and motivate employees in a team-based environment, interpret transportation operations anomalies and identify appropriate solutions, prepare a variety of comprehensive administrative and technical documents and reports, prepare and deliver presentations to management, customers, regulatory agencies, and other representatives of external organizations, work effectively in a general business environment, with a focus on high levels of quality and customer service, travel via airplane and drive an automobile, and act in accordance with GSF's Values and Creed.
