About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Nationwide. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing data products that support our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical consultation on data product projects, analyzing end-to-end data product requirements and existing business processes to assist in the design, development, and implementation of data products.
  • Translate business data stories into technical story breakdown structures and work estimates to determine value and fit for a schedule or sprint.
  • Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines for both streaming and batch requirements.
  • Assist in building out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
  • Practice code management and integration with engineering Git principles and practices.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, or a related field, or comparable experience and education.
  • One to three years of relevant experience with data quality rules, data management organization/standards, or practices.
  • Experience with query languages, statistical software, and data wrangling and provisioning tools.
  • Knowledge of modern programming and scripting languages, such as SQL, R, Python, Spark, UNIX Shell scripting, Perl, or Ruby.
