Job Title: Lifeguard I

Join the City of Farmington team as a Lifeguard I and contribute to the safety and well-being of our community.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Lifeguard to work at the Farmington Aquatic Center. As a Lifeguard I, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of pool patrons, responding to emergencies, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine public contact and safety work in serving as a pool lifeguard.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the general public.
  • Work under the supervision of the Assistant Aquatics Manager and Lifeguard Shift Supervisor.
  • Perform CPR, first aid, and water rescues on active or passive victims, when necessary.
  • Monitor the use of the swimming pool and enforce safety rules.
  • Patrol the swimming pool and aquatics facility.
  • Assist in implementing various aquatics activities throughout the year.
  • Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering phone, running errands, picking up supplies needed for activities, collecting fees, or helping set up for classes.
  • Respond to public inquiries about aquatics programs made by telephone.
  • Handle money and operate cash register.
  • Maintain related records and statistics for various aquatics programs.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the swimming pool.
  • Use various hand tools in the maintenance of swimming pool equipment, pool testing equipment, phone, cash register.
Requirements:
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification.
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid/AED or have the ability to obtain such within the first year of employment.
  • Working knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations, and techniques used in a comprehensive aquatics program.
  • Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, participants, instructors, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally; ability to give and understand oral instructions.
