Job Overview

The YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Lifeguard. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the pool area is safe and secure at all times, adhering to YMCA policies and safety guidelines.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, providing first aid and CPR as needed.
  • Perform regular equipment and chemical checks to ensure the pool is safe for use.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and certification courses to stay up-to-date on the latest safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
  • At least 16 years of age and some high school level education.
  • 1 year of experience in a lifeguarding role is preferred, but not required.
  • A current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification is preferred, but not required.
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen certifications.
