Job Title: Diesel Technician Senior Mechanic

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Technician Senior Mechanic to join our team at Ryder System in Milwaukee, WI.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, as well as diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electronic problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including oil changes, brake and tire work, and advanced skilled level repairs.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support.
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints and provide solutions.
  • Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance and repair procedures and diagnostics.
  • Coach and mentor other level technicians to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
  • Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.
  • All other certification as required by location.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to perform all T3 tasks.
  • Must have demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be available to work shift work/weekends and on-call duty as required.
