Position Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced attorney to provide legal counsel and support for our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in corporate governance, corporate securities, and lobbying, enabling them to effectively navigate the legal landscape in a nonprofit context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer legal advice on various matters, including corporate governance, corporate securities, and lobbying efforts.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Represent the organization in legal proceedings when necessary.
- Develop and implement legal strategies to safeguard the organization's interests.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel as required.
- Stay informed on current legislation and legal trends affecting the nonprofit sector.
- Provide training and guidance on legal issues to staff members.
- Contribute legal insights during organizational decision-making processes.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing with the state bar.
- At least 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney, ideally within the nonprofit sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate governance, corporate securities, and lobbying.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of laws and regulations pertaining to nonprofits.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- High ethical standards and professionalism.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
