The Financial Planning Analyst plays a crucial role in facilitating financial strategy, analysis, and reporting for the U.S. Commercial division at Alphatec Spine. This position is pivotal in managing and calculating the compensation structure for field personnel, while also delivering forecasts and insights into financial variances and trends. The analyst will be expected to cultivate and sustain relationships across various departments to ensure effective communication of essential information between corporate and field teams. The nature of this role necessitates the ability to operate autonomously, seeking guidance primarily for complex issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide central finance support for budgeting and financial reporting related to the field-based compensation aspect of our U.S. Commercial operations.
  • Oversee the calculation and reporting of monthly commission expenses, ensuring accurate maintenance of rates and agreements within the commission system.
  • Address inquiries regarding commission calculations and payments, while also reviewing contracts for any compensation modifications.
  • Assist in the preparation of the management financial reporting package and engage in various monthly management review sessions.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership on monthly revenue forecasting, consolidating deliverables and reconciling outputs with finance and sales operations.
  • Analyze monthly reports on revenue and operating expenses in relation to the operating plan and forecasts, communicating opportunities and/or discrepancies in P&L.
  • Support the development of business case models and maintain financial tracking mechanisms for approved investments.
  • Ensure adherence to SOX/Legal protocols and assist with external auditor requests during quarterly reviews and annual audits, including the preparation of necessary documentation.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience interacting with leadership across all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills; ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues.
  • Capacity to maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently, ensuring timely follow-up, meeting deadlines, and demonstrating a sense of urgency; strong organizational skills are essential.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage extensive data, multiple priorities, and tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, capable of distilling complex information into clear messages.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in other PC applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and commission calculation tools.
  • Experience with PowerBI.
  • Background in a Sarbanes-Oxley control environment.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial management, business planning, analysis, or public accounting.
  • CPA, CMA, or CFA certification is a plus.
  • MBA or Post Graduate Degree in a related field is advantageous.
  • Moderate experience in financial modeling.
