FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS INSPECTOR
POSITION OVERVIEW
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Sprinkler Systems
- Conduct inspections of structures equipped with Fire Sprinkler Systems in a cost-efficient manner.
- Accurately complete all related inspection documentation.
- Acquire a comprehensive understanding of relevant NFPA standards and installation practices. Maintain RME-I certification and obtain TCEQ backflow licensing (B-PAT).
- Execute thorough inspections of sprinkler systems and associated components, including Wet, Dry, Fire Pumps, Pre-action, Deluge, Antifreeze Loops, and backflows.
- Engage in cross-training for additional licensing responsibilities to broaden qualifications.
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Develop a strong understanding of applicable NFPA standards.
- Complete all inspection-related documentation accurately.
- Perform inspections of structures containing Fire Alarm Systems in a cost-effective manner.
- Conduct necessary inspections of alarm systems and their components.
- Participate in cross-training for additional licensing duties.
- Extinguishing Systems/Hood Suppression/Special Hazards
- Gain knowledge of relevant NFPA standards and manufacturer installation guidelines.
- Ensure accurate completion of all inspection documentation.
- Inspect structures containing Fire Extinguishers, Hood Suppression Systems, and/or Special Hazards based on held licenses.
- Carry out required inspections of extinguishing and suppression systems and their components.
- Cross-train for additional licensing duties.
- Senior Technician
- Hold all necessary Fire licenses, including RME-I, FAL, FEL-A, and B-PAT (Backflow Preventer).
- Lead comprehensive inspections and special projects, either independently or with a team.
- Conduct inspections of structures with various fire protection systems in a cost-effective manner.
- Assist or substitute for the inspection manager as needed.
- Mentor junior technicians in their pursuit of additional licenses and knowledge.
Expectations:

- Prioritize safety in all operations.
- Ensure timely submission of Job Safety Analyses, Toolbox Talks, and Audit Forms.
- Accurately report incidents and accidents in a timely manner.

- Maintain safe driving practices while operating company vehicles.
- Support and adhere to Stop Work Authority principles.
- Complete all required training, including safety and certifications.
- Submit accurate timesheets on time, including job numbers/names, overtime, and travel pay.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and professional.
- Manage inventory effectively, reviewing and approving packing slips promptly.
- Maintain and care for equipment, including trucks, lifts, and tools.
- Keep job sites organized and clean.
- Monitor production efficiency, being aware of budget versus actual labor hours.
- Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures regarding Purchase Orders and Change Orders.
- Ensure punctuality and effective communication with supervisors.
- Strive for customer satisfaction and respond to feedback for improvement.
- Maintain quality control to minimize return trips and warranty work.
- Present a professional appearance at all times.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and clients.
- Foster teamwork and positive interactions within the team and local office.
- Actively participate in team meetings.
- Be available for overtime, travel, or on-call duties as necessary.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Minimum education of High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Required NICET level for the specific trade and current TX Department of Insurance license.
- Strong understanding of materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in installation, along with a working knowledge of NFPA standards.
- Valid TX driver's license with a clean driving record and clear criminal background.
Experience Requirements:
- Sprinkler Systems
- At least 5 years of experience (installation/service experience is advantageous).
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Minimum of 3 years of experience (installation/service experience is advantageous).
- Extinguishing Systems
- At least 2 years of experience.
- Hood Suppression Systems
- Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Special Hazards
- At least 5 years of experience, with FAL license and relevant work experience.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to follow directions from management.
- Accurately complete and maintain all necessary paperwork.
- Maintain tools and vehicles according to company policy.
- Possess a valid state driver's license and a good driving record.
