The role of an Engineering & Facilities Operations Manager at Target involves fostering a reliability-centered maintenance culture within the supply chain facility. This enables high performance and ensures high equipment availability and success for the operation of the supply chain facility. Strong leadership is required to manage Maintenance Technicians, Utility Attendants, and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Software Technicians, as well as cultivating a sense of urgency and quality focus. The incumbent will deliver solutions for challenging problems, work with building leaders to optimize use of material handling equipment, manage external contractors, handle multiple projects, and meet tough timelines. A continuous improvement ethic is developed in the team through data-driven processes and root cause elimination. The reliability of the system is improved through ownership in defect handling, breakdown elimination, and planning and scheduling. Collaboration with other department leaders is essential to accomplish engineering and maintenance departmental goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and development of the team, including coaching, performance management, and onboarding new hires.
  • Ownership of accuracy and timeliness of performance metrics within the shift and development of shift hand-offs to ensure continuity of maintenance efforts.
  • Work plans for emergency repair of critical assets and escalation process in the midst of downtime incidents.
  • Safety promotion and safe working practices, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.).
  • Overall health, reliability, and life cycle management for site commodities, including material handling equipment, lighting, power distribution, backup generators, fire suppression and notification systems, balers, compactors, compressors, dock doors, HVAC, Over The Road (OTR) trailer fleet, and Powered Industrial Truck fleet.
  • Approval of financial expenditures for parts within corporate guidelines and validation of the quality of work performed by external contractors.

About You:

  • A self-starter with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to set and adjust priorities of work, inject an appropriate sense of urgency in resolving problems that hinder product flow, and prioritize multiple projects.
  • 4- year degree in Engineering or related fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a team-oriented environment.
