We are in search of a Senior IT Operations Manager to become a pivotal member of the Data Services and Engineering division at ODI, a collaborative group of dedicated data professionals. ODI engages with various sectors across the state, utilizing data that impacts all residents of California. The challenges we face require both analytical and empathetic approaches. As our Senior IT Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include: Defining the architecture of ODI's contemporary data infrastructure. Ensuring a user-centric approach in all tasks. Enhancing the skill set of the Data Services and Engineering team through your extensive experience in cloud data architecture, infrastructure as code, and establishing efficient CI/CD processes for data analytics. Assisting in the evaluation and selection of tools that align with the architectural vision. Embracing a platform-oriented mindset, prioritizing cloud-based, sustainable, and scalable solutions that cater to widespread needs across multiple projects and stakeholders. You will collaborate with a team of data and analytics engineering experts supporting the Office of Data and Innovation (ODI). The team is responsible for developing shared platforms, services, and standards for data utilization at ODI and throughout the state. You will work closely with your colleagues to identify effective patterns and architectures that enhance data-driven decision-making. Over time, these patterns may evolve into recommended standards, and at the very least, our insights will be shared with departments to guide them in adopting analytics engineering practices supported by modern data platforms.

Describe a recent project where you architected cloud data services, detailing the business challenge addressed, your role and contributions, the methodology, the key architectural components involved, the outcomes, and lessons learned.

2. Summarize your experience (including years of experience, roles held, and employers) utilizing infrastructure as code and CI/CD for managing cloud data infrastructure and operations. How would you explain the benefits of these tools to a department with limited experience in their use?
