Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and assess speech, language, and swallowing disorders in residents of skilled nursing facilities.

  • Provide direct therapy services, including individual and group sessions, to improve speech, language, and swallowing functions.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on strategies and techniques to support communication and swallowing needs at home and in the facility.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
  • Conduct regular progress assessments and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure or certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a skilled nursing facility or geriatric setting.
  • Strong knowledge of speech, language, and swallowing disorders, particularly in the elderly population.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
