Your Role in Patient Care:

The Practical Nursing Specialist (LPN) is essential in patient care, contributing to the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Under the guidance of RN(s), the LPN offers direction and support in patient education and activities that align with their training and demonstrated competencies.



Key Responsibilities:


Under RN supervision, evaluates patients' physical, psychological, and social aspects in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, contributing to personalized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as necessary.

Implements treatment plans directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications, including IV therapy (if certified), and conducting diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures.

Collaborates in controlled substance counts at the start of each shift, adhering to safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines.

Assists in medical or minor surgical procedures, implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans, and documents nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel.

Participates in mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in delivering high-quality patient care.



Qualifications & Requirements:
Education

Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Experience

Preferred minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience

Licenses/Certifications

Must hold and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.

Additional Information:
This part-time position operates on THURSDAY NIGHTS only * hours are 6pm - 6:30am *
Shift differential is an additional $2 / hour
