Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking an Attorney to serve the university by providing legal advice and representation to university leadership, administration, faculty and employees on a wide variety of legal matters impacting higher education.

About the Role

This attorney will be based on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and will work under the direction of the Chief of the Education Section and the VCU University Counsel. The role involves handling a broad range of legal matters, serving all divisions of the University, in coordination with other attorneys in the Office of the University Counsel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing legal advice and representation to university leadership, administration, faculty and employees on various legal matters.
  • Handling a broad range of legal matters, including Title IX compliance, general litigation and litigation management, student matters and governance.
  • Assisting in areas such as contract review, sponsored research, non-disclosure agreements and University-Associated Organizations.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience in the general practice of law and excellent interpersonal skills. High level organizational skills and an ability to manage many projects simultaneously are also required.

The salary for this position is approximately $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. This estimate is based on the location and industry standards.
