Patent Scientist Opportunity

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a highly skilled Patent Scientist to join our team through our alternative-track attorney and staffing program, DWTSurge. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong technical background in computer technology and experience in patent prosecution.

This is a full-time contract position with a specified term that may be renewed on an annual basis for successful candidates. The initial term will run through the end of the calendar year, with a 1,800 billable hour requirement. We are looking for candidates who are interested in pursuing flexible opportunities while providing high-value legal services to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications in-house or as outside counsel for medium/large firms
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality results
  • Manage a workload efficiently and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution as a patent scientist
  • Minimum of a BS degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field
  • Familiarity with operations of large organizations with established patent programs
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to client service
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Benefits:
  • Annualized salary range: $111,000 to $138,000
