Job Title: Patient Companion

At The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Patient Companion to join our team. As a Patient Companion, you will play a vital role in providing supportive care to our patients, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care delivery for patients, including observation, documentation, and communication.
  • Maintain patient safety standards at all times, including securing relief for incoming nursing personnel and reporting any changes in patient behavior.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL), such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Participate in group activities that promote patient socialization and leisure time skills.
  • Observe and report patient behaviors to the Registered Nurse (RN/AHN).
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, as per IMC policy.
  • Obtain vital signs, height, and weight, and record results on the Vital Signs Sheet, as per IMC Policy.
  • Escort patients to appointments and accompany them to in-house or outside hospital premises.
  • Obtain supplies and equipment as needed to assist in the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness of patient areas, including bed making, removing food from patient rooms, and doing laundry.
  • Complete 15-minute surveillance sheets, as per MD orders.
  • Talk, listen, and relate to patients in a positive manner, maintaining confidentiality and security of patient information.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician certification with EKG and phlebotomy skills, required.
