Job Summary

We are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join our client's team in State College, PA. This direct hire role offers a hybrid work schedule, competitive pay ranging from $115,000 to $125,000 per year, and excellent benefits.

About the Role

The successful candidate will oversee all day-to-day payroll operations, supervise a team of specialists, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and internal policies. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage payroll staff and prepare work schedules
  • Process biweekly payroll
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for all payroll-related matters
  • Troubleshoot and solve any payroll errors
  • Audit payrolls before processing
  • Validate and approve payroll corrections and adjustments
  • Reconcile payroll accounts for the general ledger
  • Create journal entries
  • Oversee payroll tax process

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must possess:

  • 8+ years of payroll experience, preferably with payrolls exceeding 1000 employees
  • 5+ years of leadership/manager experience, with a strong track record of supervising teams
  • An Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Recent experience with payroll system implementation and/or upgrade experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with ERP systems like Oracle is desirable
  • Previous experience working with UKG/Kronos is preferred
  • Experience with Healthcare Payroll and Union-based payrolls is advantageous
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with a working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
