Job Summary

Mid Michigan College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Art Education Faculty member to join our team. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching Art Education courses in both online and face-to-face settings at our Mt. Pleasant campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned classroom courses and develop and maintain connections with the graphic design industry, arts community, and regional businesses to maintain a relevant curriculum.
  • Consistently assess learning outcomes and assist in developing strategies for quality improvement.
  • Develop and update syllabi for Art courses and ensure course content and requirements meet college and accreditation requirements.
  • Evaluate student academic achievement and provide students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
  • Maintain and report appropriate classroom records, such as student attendance and grades.
  • Hold appropriate office hours for meeting with and assisting students.
  • Support and serve as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide; serve on college committees as encouraged/assigned.
  • Adhere to the policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college.
Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Art, or Masters Degree in another discipline, with at least 18 masters level credits in Art.
  • One - three years of teaching experience in Art or Design courses preferred.
Working Environment
  • The job responsibilities of this position are performed in an office environment which requires a professional image and demeanor, on-time attendance and reliability.
  • Travel to other campus locations is required.
  • Travel for conferences/training/workshops is required.
  • Duties are performed in an independent atmosphere without close direct supervision.
  • The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward pounds).
  • Must meet reasonable and sometimes shifting deadlines, quotas, or demands for accuracy, and may occasionally be involved in sensitive conversations with students or staff members.
