Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Aquaculture and Marine Science Consultant to join our esteemed Ecological and Biological Sciences Practice. This role is integral to our mission of providing exceptional scientific consulting services in the aquaculture sector.

Key Responsibilities

As a vital member of our team, you will:

  • Analyze Complex Dynamics: Interpret intricate aquaculture business environments, including regulatory frameworks, operational efficiencies, environmental assessments, site infrastructure, and production methodologies.
  • Prepare Regulatory Documentation: Draft and review essential regulatory documents and reports to ensure compliance and facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Drive Business Development: Engage in strategic networking and client relationship management to expand our range of scientific and engineering services within the aquaculture and seafood industries.
  • Synthesize Technical Information: Utilize creative and analytical thinking to compile and present technical reports and presentations effectively.
  • Enhance Professional Expertise: Contribute to the scientific community by publishing peer-reviewed articles and participating in relevant conferences and professional society activities.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client expectations.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Ph.D. in Aquaculture, Marine Sciences, Applied Ecology, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in a consulting capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of coastal and marine ecosystems, hydrodynamics, and commercial fishing practices.
  • Strong proficiency in scientific sampling methodologies and a comprehensive understanding of aquatic ecosystems, fisheries, wildlife, and water quality issues.
  • Experience in data analysis and statistical evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks effectively while working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
Additional Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following qualifications would be advantageous:

  • Basic knowledge of fisheries and seafood traceability, sustainability ratings, and conservation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with HACCP plans and food safety protocols.
  • Understanding of relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
