Position Overview:
X-Ray Welding Specialists are proficient Structural Welders capable of executing flawless welds that are subject to radiographic X-ray evaluation.

Role Responsibilities:
This role involves welding on critical Sub safe/Hull integrity joints in accordance with established welding protocols and quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform welding in all positions and on diverse joint configurations.
- Execute gouging of full penetration welds.
- Ensure high-quality, efficient, and speedy welding operations.
- Guarantee that final welds comply with internal policy standards and UT/RT acceptance criteria.
- Selected candidates must successfully complete a radiographic welding assessment and a six-month probationary period to demonstrate X-ray welding proficiency.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience or training in Electric Boat welding or a minimum of two years of welding experience from another organization.
- Familiarity with welding procedures and various welding apparatus.
- Capability to work in horizontal, vertical, overhead, and flat positions.
- Willingness to work in confined spaces and at heights as necessary.
- Availability to work all shifts.
- Possession of basic hand tools is required.
- Physical tasks may include lifting, climbing, and bending.

Desirable:
- Experience with Pulse, Spray, MIG, and Stick welding techniques.
- Familiarity with mechanized welding processes.
- Gouging experience.
- Background in vocational, technical, or community college programs or apprenticeships.
- Ability to interpret welding and shipyard procedures, structural blueprints, technical manuals, and testing documents.
- Strong mathematical aptitude.

Skills Required:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team environment and achieve organizational objectives while adhering to all written and verbal directives.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks involving climbing, color vision, crawling, kneeling, light to medium lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping, and twisting.

Environmental Conditions:
- Exposure to cold, dry, dusty, fume-laden, hot, indoor environments with noise and oily conditions.
