Civil Engineering Firm Seeks Survey Party Chief

This is a permanent position with a reputable civil engineering firm, offering a dynamic and challenging opportunity to lead a team of survey technicians in the engineering industry.

Job Summary

As a Survey Party Chief, you will be responsible for managing a team of survey technicians, ensuring their safety and training them on proper surveying procedures and equipment usage. You will also perform detailed research of land records and previous survey records to obtain data needed for surveys, conduct right-of-way, control profiles, cross sections, and topographic surveys, and prepare comprehensive reports detailing surveying activities, findings, and recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead a team of survey technicians, ensuring their safety and training them on proper surveying procedures and equipment usage.
  • Perform detailed research of land records and previous survey records to obtain data needed for surveys.
  • Conduct right-of-way, control profiles, cross sections, and topographic surveys.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports detailing surveying activities, findings, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to ensure all surveying activities align with project goals and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards in all surveying operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief or in a similar role in the engineering industry.
  • Proficient in using modern surveying equipment, GPS, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of surveying laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional mathematical skills and spatial understanding.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed.
