Job Title: Optical Engineer

MIT Lincoln Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Optical Engineer to join our Advanced Lasercom Systems and Operations Group. As an Optical Engineer, you will design, assemble, align, and test complex prototype optical systems requiring precision tolerances and robustness to vibrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop optical systems and components using optical design software such as Zemax or CODE V.
  • Assemble and align optical systems, ensuring precision tolerances and robustness to vibrations.
  • Test and characterize optical systems, using instrumentation such as interferometers, autocollimators, and wavefront sensors.
  • Collaborate with other optics personnel to develop and implement new optical systems and technologies.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in optical engineering or a related field with significant coursework or experience in optics.
  • Experience with optical design software, such as Zemax or CODE V.
  • Experience with optical alignment and characterization instrumentation, such as interferometers, autocollimators, and wavefront sensors.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
