As an Assistant Kitchen Manager, you will be expected to uphold high standards while leading the culinary team, representing our brand, and ensuring an outstanding guest experience. This role requires close collaboration with the Executive Chef as an essential member of our management team. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing kitchen operations, from supply ordering to mentoring kitchen staff including line cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. You will be responsible for maintaining our exceptional quality standards, kitchen protocols, and financial performance.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Complete assigned opening and closing tasks to ensure efficient operations.
  • Prepare task lists for kitchen personnel.
  • Assist in the preparation of all food items for service.
  • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of workstations and service areas.
  • Promptly report any food deficiencies or safety concerns to the Chef.
  • Train and encourage cross-functional skills within the kitchen team.
  • Lead and contribute to menu updates, seasonal offerings, and recipe improvements.
  • Implement corrective actions in the kitchen as necessary.
  • Participate in the hiring of new kitchen staff.
  • Engage with guests for table visits, feedback, and special requests.
  • Attend kitchen team meetings.

Key Skills/Experience Required:

  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • 3 years of experience as a sous chef or kitchen supervisor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of formal culinary training.
  • Understanding of financial planning concepts.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication with guests, peers, and management.
  • Thorough knowledge of cooking techniques and menu item preparation.
  • Familiarity with ingredients, quality standards, and presentation methods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. (typically 10-20 lbs.), and carry items over 120 feet.
  • Capable of reaching up to 6 feet (4 feet on average), and working at different counter heights.
  • Able to maneuver through narrow spaces of 24-inch width and small gaps of 12 inches.
