Job Title: Tax Manager

At Gable Search Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our esteemed regional CPA firm. This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance our team with your expertise and contribute to the growth of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough technical tax reviews and approvals of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead the preparation of complex tax returns, delegating tasks to tax preparers as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge in advanced tax skills to provide exceptional client service.
  • Manage client service tasks, ensuring timely completion within budgeted timeframes.
  • Collaborate with clients to provide tax planning and advisory services, supporting the Auditing and Accounting Department.
  • Serve as a resource for tax preparers and A&A staff on specific tax matters.
  • Undertake tax preparation for complex business returns, managing client service for assigned clients.
  • Communicate important tax developments to relevant firm personnel.
  • Oversee and manage governmental tax examinations, representing clients before taxing authorities as needed.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of tax returns through the preparation system, guaranteeing accurate, complete, and timely delivery.
  • Adhere to accurate and timely billing and collection processes.
  • Research and assess tax preparation and research software for recommendation to partners.
  • Contribute to firm practice development efforts through engagement with referral sources, community, and industry activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Develop, coach, and train Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-seniors, and Staff accountants.
  • Understand the qualifications of all Tax staff members for effective training and development.
  • Participate in reviews and evaluations of the Tax Department.
Qualifications:
  • Five to seven years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating progression in tax complexity, scope, and research.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience directing tax preparers' work.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's degree in taxation preferred.
  • Current and valid CPA license is mandatory.
