Cybersecurity Faculty

The Cybersecurity Faculty position at Lone Star College is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and support to students in the field of cybersecurity. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in computer information technology, develop and implement instructional approaches, and contribute to the educational environment of the college.
Essential Job Functions- Teach courses in computer information technology at various times and locations, responding to institutional needs.
- Develop and use innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods to improve the quality of instruction.
- Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives.
- Evaluate student progress and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course.
- Submit required college reports and forms.
- Review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials.
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
- Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods.
- Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Dean.
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned.
- Mastery of course content.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with a style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and the effective use of technology.
- Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking technologies.
The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule and Conditions- Equipment used includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
- Hours will vary depending on class time, and instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, or computer-based information systems, instructional technology, or business/computer-related field.
- 3 years of nonteaching work experience in the field or industry certification(s).
- Current industry certifications in network security and/or cybersecurity, or networking, i.e. CCNP, CAP, GSLC, Security+, CISSP, CASP, CISM, SCCP.
- Background in cybersecurity and network security.
