Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Instructor of Artificial Intelligence to join our team at Houston Community College. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the field of Artificial Intelligence, providing expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Teaching and Mentoring: Develop and teach courses in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and related fields, using a variety of effective methodologies and providing engagement and support activities that encourage student learning.
  2. Curriculum Development: Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, and provide input on curriculum development and updates for technical courses.
  3. Academic Advising: Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods, and provide advice and assistance to students regarding instructional or program-specific pathways.
  4. Professional Development: Establish annual objectives for professional growth in consultation with the department chair, and participate in the evaluation process for self, program, department, and college.
  5. Institutional and Community Service: Work collaboratively with all HCC Information technology and workforce programs, and participate in scheduled institutional service activities, including opening week events, conference days, and commencement exercises.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Education: Master's degree (or 18 graduate level hours) in a STEM-related field such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other related science major required.
  • Experience: 3 years industrial experience in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence AI/ML, Deep Learning, Cloud Computing, Applications Development, Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science, System Support, Databases/Fulfillment, Storage, Electrical Systems, Software Design/Development, Programming or Robotics required.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Possess the ability to work in a diverse work environment, willing and able to teach day or evening classes at a number of sites around the city, and demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
