POSITION SUMMARY
As an Operations Executive at The Bank of Elk River, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the operational landscape of the organization. Your primary focus will be on developing annual strategies, enhancing operational efficiencies, promoting digital-first initiatives, and improving both internal and external user experiences. This position offers the chance to mentor and cultivate talent while nurturing a collaborative and communicative workplace culture. With your extensive management experience and attention to detail, you will guide teams across various sectors, including retail banking, fraud prevention, lending, and back-office operations.
Success in this role requires a comprehensive understanding of banking operations, products, systems, and business lines, including core systems, deposit and loan documentation, teller processing, proof of deposit processing, and electronic banking platforms. Familiarity with federal and state regulations, as well as standard banking policies, is essential.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will provide leadership and direction to the Deposit Operations Manager, Loan Operations Department, Fraud Specialist, and Retail Operations Specialist. Your responsibilities will encompass the overall management, coordination, and evaluation of these departments, which includes planning and directing work, assessing performance, rewarding and disciplining staff, addressing grievances, and resolving issues. You will be accountable for the activities of your subordinates, fostering their skill development and encouraging professional growth. Continuous improvement of management skills and availability to staff will be a priority.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze and assess operational procedures to identify areas for enhancement. Establish guidelines and standards to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in operational areas.
- Oversee and lead the bank's operations departments, ensuring all employees contribute to the company's growth objectives through streamlined workflows and high-quality operational practices. Provide ongoing coaching and staff development.
- Generate and implement Query/Cognos reports to assist management in obtaining data necessary for achieving the bank's strategic objectives.
- Maintain and support the Core Banking Platform, including parameter setup, release maintenance, reporting, end-user training, and year-end processing.
- Manage and supervise the maintenance and support of auxiliary banking platforms across retail operations, deposit operations, loan operations, and digital banking systems, ensuring each area meets goals established by departmental and bank leadership.
- Act as a certified administrator for Synergy Documents and Reports applications, including eSign administration.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university is preferred, along with 10 years of relevant experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with report writing tools, particularly Cognos.
- Familiarity with Jack Henry systems, including core systems, CIF 20/20, or Silverlake, is preferred.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, leadership capabilities, a high level of initiative, intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a robust understanding of banking operations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crawl, and use a computer for extended periods.
