Overview:

The City of Richmond is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Associate Management Consultant within the Department of Finance. This position is essential for delivering top-notch customer service, assisting citizens, and managing revenue processing linked to municipal services.

Key Responsibilities:

Incumbents will engage in advanced customer service, addressing both standard and complex inquiries while conducting thorough research and adjustments to account details. Responsibilities may include:
  • Inputting data into designated systems
  • Investigating and rectifying account discrepancies
  • Generating and interpreting reports
  • Creating billing statements
  • Processing account modifications
  • Calculating and issuing refunds
  • Handling inquiries via phone, email, and in-person
  • Performing basic clerical tasks such as filing and correspondence
As needed, incumbents may lead teams, assigning tasks and overseeing completion. This role may also involve supporting the supervision of paraprofessional staff and coordinating training initiatives.

Essential Functions:

The position requires the ability to:
  • Assist customers in maintaining accurate records and files
  • Investigate and resolve complex customer service challenges
  • Respond to billing inquiries and conduct necessary research
  • Make adjustments to customer accounts in the departmental system
  • Communicate with customers to confirm service resolutions
  • Prepare and submit account logs and reports to supervisors
  • Conduct data entry for account corrections and resolved issues
  • Assist with special projects as directed
  • Guide customers in completing forms and answering inquiries
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Candidates should possess knowledge in:
  • Electronic databases and software applications
  • Governmental accounting principles
  • Relevant state codes and local ordinances
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
Skills:
  • Data analysis and aggregation

  • Conducting basic analyses and developing reports

Minimum Training and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business/public administration or a related field
  • Two years of relevant paraprofessional experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Experience:
  • Two years of customer service experience in a relevant environment
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Work Environment:
