Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Coatings Chemist to join our R&D team. As a Coatings Chemist, you will play a crucial role in developing coating formulations that incorporate our proprietary multifunctional material technology. Your expertise will be essential in creating new products that meet the highest standards of performance, sustainability, and aesthetics.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and optimize coating formulations for various applications
  • Conduct experiments and analyze data to improve coating performance
  • Collaborate with our R&D team to bring new products to market
  • Source raw materials and suppliers for R&D and pilot manufacturing
  • Document test results and track project progress
  • Communicate technical information to customers, partners, and public audiences


Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
  • Industry experience in formulating paints and coatings
  • Strong understanding of materials science and chemistry principles
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Passion for sustainability and innovation

The job is based at Greentown Labs in Somerville, Massachusetts. Greentown Labs is a premier cleantech incubator in the United States. Some projects may require multi-day travel to other locations.
