This role involves close collaboration with the tax team, contributing to various facets of the tax department, including the precise preparation and submission of federal and state tax documentation and workpapers. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals at the beginning of their careers to understand the intricacies of tax and accounting/audit operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with external firms on the company's quarterly income tax provisions and federal/state tax submissions.
  • Guarantee the precise and timely submission of consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns, estimated tax payments, extensions, and other business-related filings.
  • Prepare and submit tax returns and workpapers associated with sales/use tax, property tax, and other statutory filings.
  • Compile month-end journal entries concerning sales/use tax, property tax, and other relevant filings.
  • Develop weekly forecasts for tax payments.
  • Assist with IRS and state income tax audits by preparing responses and creating necessary schedules.
  • Address notices received from IRS and state tax authorities.
  • Support various special tax-related initiatives.
  • Conduct tax research and draft internal tax memoranda.
  • Verify general ledger tax accounts and collaborate with the accounting team on appropriate journal entries.
  • Engage with different internal departments to gather information required for tax deliverables.
  • Maintain various tax trackers and organize documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • A collaborative team player.
  • Robust accounting, analytical, and research capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Excel for pivot tables and logical formulas.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  • Entry-level candidates with 0 - 2 years of experience in tax or accounting are encouraged to apply.
  • Preferred candidates possess a current CPA license or are actively pursuing one.
  • Preferred candidates have experience in public accounting or corporate tax.
