Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Associate to join our team at Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. As a Laboratory Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting the laboratory team by assisting with various tasks, including sample preparation, testing, and data entry.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and organize samples for testing, including sample racking, aliquoting, and tube preparation.
- Label, handle, process, transport, and store specimens in a safe and efficient manner.
- Identify sample problems and assist in resolving them appropriately.
- Prepare testing equipment and assist with preventive maintenance.
- Assist licensed personnel in pre-analytic and post-analytic testing activities.
- Prepare pre-analytical reagents and controls using automated or fixed volume measuring devices.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of reagents or media using established procedures.
- Inventory and order consumable items, including reagents and supplies.
- Sort and accession incoming specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and deliver to designated testing areas.
- Perform data entry or transcribe data from previously recorded results to the computer for data reduction.
- Tally workload data and prepare reports as requested.
- Assist in the performance of quality control procedures.
- Prepare protocols/logs or other appropriate documents.
- Identify specimen problems and demonstrate ability to appropriately resolve or elevate to licensed personnel.
- Answer phones, transfer calls, or take accurate messages while maintaining confidentiality of client information.
- Ensure laboratory areas are neat, clean, and organized.
- Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- Some College Courses preferred.
- Basic knowledge of operating non-complex equipment required.
- 1-2 years of laboratory experience preferred.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand, and have good eye and hand coordination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong typing skills desirable.
- Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with management, coworkers, and clients.
