Job Summary

United Way of Greater New Bedford is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Hunger Commission Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in coordinating the distribution of food and non-food products to our community partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the transportation of donated food from various sources to confirmed program partners in a timely and safe manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of food collection and distribution, including weekly logs and contact lists.
  • Develop and implement an effective distribution plan in partnership with other staff members.
  • Assist with the setup and staffing of Mobile Markets and large-scale events, including holidays and food drives.
  • Maintain relationships with food donors and suppliers to increase food donations.
  • Ensure the service, cleanliness, and appearance of our truck are maintained at all times.
  • Supervise Hunger Commission Assistants and volunteers as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Massachusetts Driver's License and a good driving record are necessary.
  • Ability to lift and load cartons and boxes, sometimes up to 100lbs.
  • Positive attitude, excellent verbal communication skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate effectively with food donors, volunteers, co-workers, vendors, and recipient organizations.
