We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Surgical Scrub Tech to join our team at USPI Audubon Ambulatory Surgery Center. As a Surgical Scrub Tech, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality patient care and experience.

Job Summary

The Surgical Scrub Tech will be responsible for:

  • Anticipating the needs of the surgical team
  • Establishing and maintaining a sterile field during surgical procedures
  • Reporting to the Clinical Director/Administrator
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Surgical Scrub Tech will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the sterility of all supplies and instruments during setup of surgical procedures
  • Assisting the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment
  • Assisting the circulating nurse in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment
  • Gowning and gloving surgeons and assistants
  • Assisting in keeping physician preference cards accurate and up-to-date
  • Retaining all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming the source and name of the specimen with the surgeon
  • Transporting all surgical equipment to the appropriate cleaning areas
  • Assisting in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets
  • Interacting appropriately and effectively with all patients and others regardless of age or ethnic background
  • Using Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment
  • Assisting with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participating in emergency preparedness drills
  • Following all equipment and safety guidelines and being responsible for the knowledgeable use and care of equipment
  • Serving as a resource to other members of the healthcare team
  • Attending in-services, conferences, and meetings as required
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees
  • Maintaining patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy
  • Maintaining designated certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center
  • Acting in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center
  • Complying with Policies and Procedures, and adhering to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment

Pay Range

$25.00 - $35.00 / hour

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Scrub Technician Program. Certification preferable.
  • Two years experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
