Job Summary

The Activities Therapist plays a vital role in the multidisciplinary treatment team, responsible for planning, organizing, and directing quality activities for patients to meet their recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a program of adjunctive therapy activities to meet the social, emotional, physical, and other therapeutic needs of patients.
  • Adapt treatment programs to meet the functional levels of patients and develop, organize, and implement adjunctive therapy activities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure positive engagement and progress toward care plan goals.
  • Maintain detailed records of activity programs and patient participation, identifying progress toward established care plan goals.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients, coordinating and verifying assistance for activities and events as necessary.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a human services field.
  • No licensure or certification required.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in arts/crafts/music.
  • Knowledge of one or more therapeutic activity areas, such as recreation, occupational, music, or art therapy.
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic groups.
  • Familiarity working with forensic and/or psychiatric consumers.
