Position Summary

The CDL Driver is responsible for transporting materials to various job sites, ensuring the safe operation of the vehicle, and maintaining accurate records. This role typically involves driving a truck with a capacity exceeding three tons, while also providing support in loading and unloading materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle at all times.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required.
  • Complete DOT-required logs of driving hours and duties.
  • Organize and secure loads effectively.
  • Assist in loading materials with forklift operators.
  • Verify order accuracy prior to delivery.
  • Deliver and unload materials to meet customer expectations.
  • Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment.
  • Document all merchandise returns and assist in processing.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation guidelines.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during deliveries.
  • Communicate messages from customers while on the job.
  • Support supervisors and colleagues as needed.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization in the yard and warehouse.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Operate truck-mounted forklifts safely and efficiently.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained.
  • Participate in assigned training programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Preferred education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Preferred experience: Minimum of 6 months of CDL driving experience, with basic knowledge of flatbeds and/or tractor trailers.
  • Special skills: Ability to perform basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete necessary forms.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
  • Ability to handle conflicts constructively and identify potential issues.
  • Maintain a valid operator's license and meet company driver qualifications.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and physical demands of the job.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions and lift heavy materials as needed.
  • Proficiency with current technologies, including smartphones and GPS applications.
