Position Summary

The role of the CDL Driver involves transporting materials to various job sites, ensuring the truck is in optimal condition, reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor, and assisting with the loading and unloading of materials. This position typically requires driving a vehicle with a capacity exceeding three tons, although less experienced drivers may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as necessary.
  • Complete DOT-required logs detailing hours of service and driving.
  • Organize and secure loads effectively.
  • Assist in loading operations with forklift operators.
  • Verify order accuracy prior to delivery.
  • Deliver and unload materials to meet customer expectations.
  • Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment.
  • Document all merchandise returned by truck and assist in processing returns.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation guidelines.
  • Provide exemplary customer service during all interactions.
  • Communicate customer messages while on the job.
  • Support supervisors and colleagues as needed.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organization in the yard and warehouse.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Safely operate truck-mounted forklifts.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained.
  • Participate in and complete required training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Preferred education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Preferred experience: Minimum of 6 months of CDL driving experience; basic experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers is required. A minimum of 1 year of CDL experience is necessary for interstate operations.
  • Special skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, read orders, write instructions, and complete necessary forms.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to handle conflicts constructively and identify potential issues.
  • Maintain a current operator's license and comply with company driver qualification standards.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and practices.
  • Physical requirements include bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to 100 lbs or more regularly.
  • Proficiency with or willingness to learn current technologies (e.g., smartphones, GPS, and other business applications).
