Job Summary:

As a Controls Engineer at Precision Castparts Corp, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and enhancement of process control systems within our industrial manufacturing plant. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of activities, including engineering electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems, performing PLC/HMI hardware/software design and programming, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and troubleshoot process control systems to ensure efficient and safe operation of our manufacturing processes.
• Engineer, design, and test electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems associated with our industrial manufacturing plant.
• Develop and engineer electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PLC logic to support our process control systems.
• Design and implement process network infrastructure, including Ethernet, Device Net, and Control Net.
• Interface and communicate with vendors, process engineering, installation contractors, and project management to ensure successful project execution.
• Specify and procure controls hardware and field instrumentation to support our process control systems.
• Develop database programming skills to support our SCADA system.
• Ensure compliance with company, safety, environmental, and governmental policies and regulations.
• Understand and assist in the application of company safety procedures, Lock & Tag, and Arc Flash.

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of PLC ladder logic, programming methods, and process-related control systems, including Allen Bradley Micro Logix, RS Logix 500, and Control Logix Platforms.
• Ability to design and enhance HMI applications to support our process control systems.
• Ability to examine complex electrical problems, identify the source of problems, determine the method for repair, plan and organize work, and complete complex electrical tasks using electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of automation (PLC) and electrical system design, diagnosis, and operation.
• Knowledge of applicable Electrical Code.
• Ability to operate various power, voltage, and current measurement equipment via test instruments and hand tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees in a professional and friendly manner.
• Ability to work independently as a productive member of a team.
• Willingness to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job under minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in the electrical and controls engineering field.
• Demonstrated Control Systems competency.
• Well-versed in Microsoft Office programs.
• SQL Database knowledge preferred.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations. To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency.
