This role involves leading engineering services for a variety of energy infrastructure projects, including overall system planning and improvements to existing facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as an engineering lead on projects involving medium and low voltage power systems, grounding, lighting, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Support client-focused activities such as business development and proposal preparation.
  • Develop and mentor junior engineering and design staff.
  • Prepare data sheets and specifications for electrical equipment, including power distribution centers, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, starters, control panels, and more.
  • Perform electrical calculations, including short circuit, load flow, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash studies using ETAP or SKM software.
  • Provide Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control for other engineers' work product.
  • Participate in startup, performance testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in planning, cost control, and scheduling for assigned projects.
  • Develop and review TIC estimates.
  • Maintain effective communication and relationships with project team members and clients, with a commitment to building enduring relationships leading to customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate vendors' quotations, clarifications, Technical Bid Analysis, and more.
  • Review vendors' documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications, and calculations.
Requirements:
  • B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • California Electrical Professional Engineer license is required.
  • Minimum work experience of 15 years with at least 10 years in the utility or energy industries and 5 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Experience with field start-up and troubleshooting is required.
  • Knowledge in electrical engineering and design, NEC, and API 500 with working electrical construction experience is required.
  • Experience in consulting (or EPC with Design & Engineering capability) is strongly preferred.
  • Some electric utility experience is preferred.
  • Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with clients and team members in both verbal and written form.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and BlueBeam is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ETAP and/or SKM is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
  • Working knowledge with instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and distributed control systems (DCS)
  • Valid drivers' license and clean driving record is required.
