Job Summary

The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of IT Academy Instructor. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, and teaching quality technical IT training for adult learners, preparing them for professional certifications and helping them to become job-ready with the necessary IT knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and develop high-quality technical IT training programs for adult learners
  • Teach IT courses to students, using a variety of instructional methods and technologies
  • Assess student learning and progress, and make adjustments to instruction as needed
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff to develop and implement IT curriculum
  • Stay current with industry developments and advancements in IT, and incorporate this knowledge into instruction
Requirements

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • A working knowledge of information technology, including IT hardware, infrastructure, networking, and security
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Considerable experience as an instructor or technical trainer
  • Considerable experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting personal computing devices, servers, and networks
Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • One or more CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, Cloud+, or Linux+) or comparable Cisco or Microsoft certifications
