Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a qualified IT Academy Instructor to join our team. As an IT Academy Instructor, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and teaching quality technical IT training for adult learners, preparing them for professional certifications and helping them to become job-ready with the necessary IT knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and teach quality technical IT training for adult learners
  • Prepare students for professional certifications
  • Help students become job-ready with the necessary IT knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Meet the Virginia Community College Systems (VCCS-29) standards for an adjunct faculty

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of information technology, including IT hardware/infrastructure, networking, and security, including best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Considerable experience as an instructor or technical trainer
  • Considerable experience with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting personal computing devices, servers, and networks
  • Excellent time management skills, including proven ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Considerable experience working successfully as part of a team
  • Considerable experience working successfully in an environment with deadlines
  • High school graduate or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, Cloud+, or Linux+) or comparable Cisco or Microsoft certifications
