Position Overview


The Senior Commercial Lending Specialist is tasked with cultivating and enhancing lucrative commercial financing partnerships through proactive networking and outreach initiatives with local influencers such as accountants, attorneys, and brokers.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct initial assessments and evaluations of prospective commercial loan opportunities, including on-site evaluations.

- Analyze and structure loan applications, ensuring alignment with Unity Bank's credit policies while accommodating client needs.


- Draft and submit comprehensive loan proposals to the credit department, incorporating analyses of collateral, cash flow, and guarantor information, along with all necessary documentation.

- Ensure the precision of all information included in the loan proposal.

- Present loan proposals to senior management or the executive loan committee.

- Collaborate with credit and closing teams to gather essential documentation for timely loan closures.

- Promote additional Unity Bank products and services to clients.

- Monitor and report on the performance of assigned loan portfolios to senior management in accordance with Unity Bank's policies and procedures.

- Oversee ongoing evaluations of financial performance, including renewals and necessary communications.

- Fulfill other reporting obligations as directed by senior management.

- Assist other departments (e.g., Collections, Retail) regarding the assigned loan portfolio as needed.

Additional Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of commercial lending standards is essential.

- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

- Proven track record in successful commercial loan origination.

- Ability to cross-sell banking products effectively.

- Willingness to travel locally as required.

- Flexibility to work extended hours for evening business events.

Education and Experience

- A college degree is preferred.

- Formal training in bank credit is preferred.

- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial lending is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


The performance of a Senior Commercial Lending Specialist is evaluated based on the volume of new commercial loans originated, new retail accounts established, and the number and type of referrals made to Unity Bank's business partners.

Individual performance metrics will be discussed upon hiring.

Required Technical Skills:
- Proficient in PC usage.

- Familiarity with software applications including Word, Excel, and FISERV (preferred).

- Competence in operating standard office equipment (e.g., fax, copier, printer).

Physical Requirements

- Ability to remain seated for extended periods, up to 75% of work hours.

- Capability to use hands for grasping, handling, or feeling.

- Proficient in using a computer keyboard and system for data entry and information processing.

- Ability to read a computer screen at close range.

- Proficient in verbal communication and auditory comprehension.

- Ability to use a telephone for communication.

- Competence in using office equipment such as teller scanners, personal computers, telephones, mobile devices, and copiers.

Work Environment

- Moderate noise level typical of a business office with office machines, computers, and personnel traffic.
