Position Overview:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Cardiac and Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Units. These units provide care for patients with complex cardiothoracic, vascular, and trauma-related health issues, allowing nursing staff to enhance their clinical expertise and critical thinking abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily operations of the unit, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective patient care.
  • Act as a role model for excellence in service, establishing clear expectations and providing mentorship to nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing education, physician assistants, and surgical specialists.
  • Engage in departmental goal-setting and ensure alignment with the overarching mission of the healthcare organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.
  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Connecticut is mandatory.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressive nursing management experience in a Critical Care environment is required, with a preference for 5 or more years of combined clinical and management experience in Critical Care.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an accredited organization is required.
