Position Overview:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Cardiac and Med-Surg Intensive Care Units. These specialized units provide care for patients with complex cardiothoracic, vascular, and trauma-related conditions, fostering a robust skill set and knowledge base for nursing staff. Through effective leadership and support from practice councils, nurses are empowered to enhance their clinical skills and critical thinking abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily unit operations, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective patient care.
  • Act as a role model for service excellence, establishing clear expectations and mentoring nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nursing education, physician assistants, and surgical specialists.
  • Engage in departmental goal-setting to align with the overarching mission of the healthcare organization.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.
  • Licensure: Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of progressive nursing management experience in a Critical Care environment is required, with 5 years preferred, combining clinical and leadership roles.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
