Position Overview

The Animal Care Facility Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of both cats and dogs within the establishment. This position entails regular observation of the animals to identify any signs of illness or distress, along with detailed record-keeping and effective communication with relevant teams and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a secure and nurturing environment for animals, staff, and visitors, employing low-stress handling methods.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary professionals.
  • Implement preventive measures to avoid negative interactions among animals in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation in animal housing areas, including thorough disinfection of frequently touched surfaces and areas exposed to waste.
  • Oversee laundry tasks, ensuring linens and animal-related items are kept clean.
  • Conduct general cleaning duties, including maintaining kitchen hygiene and operating cleaning equipment as necessary.
  • Monitor the recovery of animals post-treatment, promptly reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel.
  • Perform routine health checks to identify any signs of illness or injury in resident animals.
  • Document daily care activities, progress, and any significant observations for each animal.
  • Quickly escalate any concerns regarding animal welfare or facility operations to the appropriate team.
  • Welcome visitors warmly, providing information about adoptable animals and the adoption process.
  • Ensure a constant supply of fresh food and water for all resident animals.
  • Facilitate engaging activities and exercise for the cats.
  • Maintain open communication with management, providing updates on facility operations and animal welfare.
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize the health and well-being of resident animals while upholding facility standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of practical experience working with animals, whether through employment, volunteering, or as a dedicated pet owner.
  • A genuine passion for animal care, especially for cats, and a commitment to their welfare.
  • Preferred certifications in animal care, such as AALAS, ALAT, or similar qualifications.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including familiarity with digital communication tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to adapt and excel in a dynamic work environment.
  • Service-oriented approach with a focus on effective communication and problem-solving.

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of Fear Free Shelter certification within the first 90 days of employment.

Work Schedule

This position is per diem, requiring availability on specific days and times.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $20.00.
